Choosing A Thank You Gift For A Man

Selecting a gift for a man can be a confusing task. Not only are men choosy but they also hardly attach emotional significance to gifts as women often do. Men prefer something practical that they can use rather than trinkets. In most cases they seem to have everything they need, further making it difficult to select the perfect thank you gift. Most people limit men’s gifts to ties, pens and shirts. This makes most men’s gifts predictable and hardly exciting, which is why it can sometimes be frustrating to pick something different out.

However, if you do a little research you will discover that men’s gifts are available in all shapes and sizes. Other than the usual predictable culprits, there is a wide variety of gifts that will catch a man by surprise, much to his delight.

First off, you can never go wrong with a personalised gift. Such a gift shows that you have invested time and thought into choosing a gift, and not just picked something off the shelves. You can personalise a gift by adding his name or initials, or modifying a gift to reflect his passion or interest. The list of gifts that you can personalise is almost endless and is only limited by your imagination. Some of the possible options include the following:

Cuff links: These are always a great thank you gift for men, especially a business man or someone that is fond of a fine suit. You could get a brief message inscribed in tiny letters and they could also be formed into a certain shape representing his interest or passion. For instance if he is a crafts man, then you could buy ‘handy man’ cuff links whose shape resembles tools such as a hammer or a saw. If the man is a sports enthusiast, you could get cuff links that are shaped like sports equipment such as golf clubs.

Mugs or Tankards: A mug or a silver tankard has plenty of space to write a messages on it. You could have a name, initials, a message or even a picture or photo engraved onto it. There are plenty of choices with a mug or tankard. If you decide on a mug, then it can be used on a day to day basis whereas a tankard can be reserved for special occasions.

Business Card Holder: Most men that work for a business and get involved with networking for their company will have to deal with plenty of business cards. A business card holder is always useful, as it keeps your business cards in good condition and is easy to carry. You will find there are a wide range available to sort any man and you can get it engraved with a message or a name.

Wine Bottles and Boxes: A bottle of his favourite wine is perfect for any wine lovers and with a personal message it is a sure thing.

Other than personalized items, we all know that men love gadgets. Do a little research about his favourite gadgets and then look to add that personal touch. From iPods, smart phones to more elaborate gadgets, you can always lay your hands on a gadget that will tickle his fancy and add a personal message to it.

If you don’t think a personalised gift will be suitable then colognes and fragrances present another option for a thank you gift for a man. Due to the wide variety available, you are bound to find one that suits his taste. The beauty with colognes is that even if you get a different brand from the one he uses regularly, there is good chance that he will appreciate the chance to try something new. Granted, buying a man’s thank you gift is not as easy as it is to find one for a woman. What ever you do don’t give up. Take your time to select the perfect gift and if you get stuck then you can always look for ideas for personalised gifts by looking at websites that sell thank you gifts.

The Best Way to Help Your Dad Watch a Big Sports Event

The results from a recent investigation into the cost of going to watch a football game made for shocking reading. I remember when it cost a couple of quid to get in and the only other expense was something like 50p for a hamburger on the way home. Nowadays it seems that it is becoming an ever more exclusive sport, especially for retired people like my Dad, who used to take me to the matches all those years ago.

To be fair, the same can for said for a lot of other sports too, as rising costs keep people away from them. A trip to the pub to watch it on a big screen used to be a pretty decent option but even this has lot a bit of its appeal due to rising prices.

So it looks like staying at home and watching the big game in the living room is the only way forward for my old man. A bit sad really, isn’t it? Actually, it doesn’t have to be sad at all if I can brighten up match days for him with a few ideas and gifts like these.

Make Some Themed Food

Watching an Italian footie game? Get in the pizza. A US baseball match? Hot dog, anyone? What about when Barcelona and Real Madrid go head to head? Maybe paella or a trip online to get recipes for some tapas. It might not sound like much but giving him little treats like these can help him enjoy the build up to the game and remember it long afterwards.

Get Some Friends Over

There is no reason for my Dad to watch his favourite sports alone. I have 4 or 5 mates who are always keen to get together for a laugh and a bit of sporting action. The only time I watch alone is when it is a game I really want to watch without any interruptions. In these cases even the dog gets the boot and I settle down to enjoy it in peace.

Think of the Furnishings

How do you like to watch a game? My Dad loves to sprawl on his stomach and I prefer to sit upright in a comfy chair. We all have different tastes on this score and you just need to find the right furniture for your Dad’s approach. I personally like to choose from a shop which sells both chairs and televisions, so I can watch something while I try the chair out.

Get the Right TV

One of my friends has a giant screen and another has one of these cool TV mirrors. If you have a massive room to fill then screen size will be important. If space is at a premium than TV mirrors are a smart choice. These are frames which go on the wall and let you fit a slim telly into them. They are called TV mirrors because they turn into mirrors when you switch off the TV. These are fantastic and stylish but the only problem is that if your team gets beaten and you switch the thing off in anger you will be confronted by your own glum face. I reckon that if I get my old man one of these he won’t ever miss a game again.

Choose a TV mirror frame from www.frameyourtv.co.uk and move your viewing pleasure onto a new level. With this cutting edge technology you can mix style and practicality without spending a fortune.

RC Helicopters: What To Know When You Buy

If you are a beginning hobbyist, buying your first remote control helicopter can be confusing. Different statistics can sometimes sound like a new language that you need to learn. In order to know as much as possible about buying your first RC helicopter, it’s important that you know the following statistics and terms.

The first thing that most people are confused about is the size of the remote control helicopter. The .30, .60, and .90 sizes that helicopter hobbyists refer to is about the size of the motor in the helicopter. This is purely a personal choice for many. Another size that might be referred is the ratio between this helicopter to a real one . Usually would 1:10, 1:12 , the number will be smaller the larger the helicopter is.

When choosing how to power your remote controlled helicopter, you can choose electric or nitro. Many longtime enthusiasts are switching from nitro to electric, simply because the engineering focus of many companies has switched from nitro to electric. The result of this focal switch is that many electric helicopters are now outperforming gas ones. EP might be written next to the name of your favorite RC helicopter, and that signifies that it’s electrically powered.

Buying your first RC helicopter also means you’re going to run into the phrases “Kit” and “RTF”. RC Helicopter Kits are meant to be helicopters that are built by you. If you are a beginner, and don’t have much construction talent, getting a kit probably isn’t a good idea. RTF stands for Ready-To-Fly, and they generally come preassembled. RTFs are almost all electric.

Maneuverability is a major factor when it comes to buying an RC Helicopter. Most RC helicopters come with the option of 4-channel, or 6-channel controls. Basically, that means how many different radio channels are used in order to direct the helicopter. The more channels used, the more accurately you can control your helicopter, and the more tricks you can perform in order to wow your friends.

Another major factor that should not be overlooked is the flight time , charge time and reception range , these are the most crucial factors that will determine what the flying experience will be. Generally one should be very careful not to fly the heli away from the reception range. And watch out for when its battery is draining out , this would be a good time to land and recharge.

Once you actually learn what those terms mean, picking a helicopter that fits your needs is pretty easy. Remember, if you don’t understand some of the lingo that other helicopter hobbyists are using, just ask. Most people will explain it to you without issue.

7 Reasons Why Shirts Make A Great Gift

It’s always hard to think of an appropriate gift for a man who has it all. Men don’t wear make-up, are not into shoes or the latest fashion and do not carry around handbags. On the other hand, men must dress as well and a shirt is pretty much a universal item of clothing that all men will wear sooner or later. So here are not 1 or 2 but 7 reasons why a shirt is a great gift for a man.

Always needed

Unlike other gifts, pick the right shirt and it will be worn over and over again. Men can get away with wearing a shirt in many everyday situations and sometimes they have no other choice if they need to dress up more formally. So a shirt is pretty much a useful gift.

And hey, you’ll also help your man look smarter. That tired old sweater or t-shirt is prime for the bin.

Any colour, style and pattern

Does he already have a white shirt? A striped shirt? 10 shirts? It doesn’t matter. A fresh new white shirt is always going to be used eventually when the old one gets…old. Or maybe the white shirt that you picked has French cuffs and a spread collar while his is a short-sleeves one with a buttoned-down collar. Of patterns and colours when it comes to stripes, you can have a huge variety. Don’t forget abstract prints on more casual shirts.

You might want to pick a colour or style that he likes. Maybe he wears mostly short-sleeves, or doesn’t have any cufflinks to go with French cuffs. Maybe he hates pink and likes to play safe with blue. You will find a range of blue shirts here: Blue Shirts

Small and compact

That’s exactly what a shirt is. Light and easy to carry as well, what more can you wish for? Nothing fragile either needing special handling or packaging.

A range of prices

Shirts can come as cheap as you’d want or very expensive – bespoke shirts come to mind. So no matter how much or how little money you want to spend on him, you’ll find a shirt to fit the bill. At the bottom of the price range, you will find polyester or polycotton shirts, with a low percentage of cotton. At the higher end, you will find prestige brands and high quality craftsmanship and good material such as pure cotton or silk. If you purchase a quality shirt, you can be certain that it will last for a long time. Pure cotton shirts are especially resistant to many washing cycles.

Size him up

One thing to remember if you’ve set your mind on one shirt is his size. There is no point in spending time and money to choose the best shirt if it’s not going to fit him. You can exchange the shirt later for another size but of course it would be better if it could fit him the first time. So ask someone or sneak around to find out his shirt size, usually the collar size in inches or centimetres.

Expand on the gift

Do you find a shirt too boring, too utilitarian as a gift? Why not expand on it and add a matching tie, tie clip or cufflinks? Pick a set that comes in a beautifully made box set for better presentation. Now there’s nothing plain about it anymore. While a tie clip or a tie might look inadequate on their own as a gift, depending on who is going to receive it, a shirt and a tie go well together.

Easy to find

Perhaps one of the most ubiquitous items to find around. Most, if not all clothing shops with at least a small section for men will have a few selection of shirts. If you are picky, go to a menswear store and browse by size, colour, fabric, style or brand. Perhaps that will be the hardest part of it all: making up your mind to choose the shirt when you have such a wide selection in front of you.

Now what? Ready to shop? Don’t know where to start? Online is the best place: www.mushirts.co.uk has put together a great selection of shirts for men from across many stores.

Espresso Cups Gift Sets are a Stylish & Unique Gift

Espresso Cups make for a unique and classy gift at any time of year.

Espresso is the perfect way to start your day, kick-start your afternoon or enjoy after a meal with friends or family. What better way to do that than to indulge in a shot of espresso in beautifully-crafted espresso cups and saucers?

With the recent increase in popularity of home espresso machines, coffee shops and espresso bars, home coffee bean grinding and espresso-making are as beloved as ever. Espresso is usually consumed as part of a drink (all coffee-drinks use espresso as a base) or alone as a single (“ristretto”), double (“doppio”) or longer (“lungo”) shot.

Espresso as a beverage originates from Italy. A sign of a good quality pull of espresso is the colour of the crema which appears at the top of the shot.

Espresso has connoisseurs in a similar way Wine and Whiskey have. If you are interested in Espresso or agree that stylish espresso cups make for an excellent gift for any person of any age, then it’s worth checking out the wide range of designs and colours that Espresso Deco has in their many sets of espresso cups.

The Top 6 Vintage James Bond Gadgets

This is the age of smartphones, apps and tablet computers, among the most desirable gadgets on the retail realm today. The popularity of such technologically advanced items demonstrates what is the perfect marriage between tech and art to create functional, useful products that people want to buy. The popularity of such goods is also indicative of our ongoing fascination with gadgets that stretches further back than you might imagine.

We all know that the undisputed king of gadgets is Mr Bond, that’s right James bond. While in his latest incarnation, played by a Mr Daniel Craig, bond has got up to speed with the modern world using his mobile phone to set off bombs, control cars and recognise the faces of criminals, I thought I’d indulge in some nostalgia and hark back to bygone days when gadgets were simpler, cruder, but no less cool than they are now.

Here are my Top 6 Vintage James Bond Gadgets;

1. Talcum Powder Tear Gas

This does exactly what it says on the tin, disguised as the innocent cosmetic item used to power babies bottoms, this was used to render bad guys temporarily blind in From Russia with Love

2. Rubber Duck Wetsuit

This Ingenious piece of under water attire had a rubber duck attached to the headgear allowing Bond to infiltrate enemy facilities quickly

3. Aston Martin DB5

Bond’s best ever motor in my humble opinion, this British classic almost warrants a list of its own. It came equipped with revolving number plates, machine guns that could be concealed in the body work, an oil slick that could be deployed from the rear and razor sharp blades that extended out from the hubcaps.

4. Oddjob’s Tophat

Not Strictly Bond’s own gadget, the smartest dressed villain had a nifty trick up his sleeve, or should that be on his head. His top hat had a metal rim that could be thrown like a deadly Frisbee, sharp in more ways than one!

5. Cigarette Rocket Launcher

This was great concealed weapon, a mini homing missile that could be launched out of the end of what looks like a cigarette

6. Yo-Yo Saw

Yes, just as it sounds this consisted of a buzzsaw blade attached to a yo-yo, it’s lucky Bond didn’t try and show off in front of the ladies by doing tricks with this one!

These are just a few of the great gadgets Bond used in his many quests to defeat the villains and save the damsel in distress. Since most of these constitute offensive weapons, don’t expect to see them available to buy any time soon!
